It is with great sadness that OncoSpherix announces the passing of Dr. Harvey Golomb, a member of OncoSpherix’s clinical advisory board. Dr. Golomb was the Lowell T. Coggeshall Professor and former Chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago. He served as Dean of Clinical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer for University of Chicago Medicine from 2002 to 2011.
Dr Golomb served as President of the American Society of Clinical Oncology from 1990–1991, and was elected to multiple prestigious medical and scientific societies. He was a leading authority on genetic abnormalities that cause various cancers, and he executed many clinical trials that contributed to progress in the treatment of leukemias, lymphomas, and lung cancer. He was the author of nearly 350 peer-reviewed publications and nearly 300 scientific abstracts and other publications.
Dr Golomb was also a very close friend and mentor to OncoSpherix’s CEO, Dr Margaret “Kenny” Offermann. Their relationship began when she was a resident in Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago. “While Dr Golomb is no longer of this earth, he will be with me always through the lessons he taught me as a physician, an educator, a leader and an incredible human being. He made the world a better place.”
